Exciting Careers at Pemberton
Attorney
Being an attorney at Pemberton has its benefits. Not only do the attorneys get to be a part of a well established successful law firm, but they also are a part of a mentorship program where a Senior Partner will take them under their wing and help them along with their career. We currently have 17 licensed attorneys and they range from 1.5 years of experience to Dick Pemberton who is in his 50th year of practice.
Paralegal/Legal Assistant
We consider our legal staff to be the "right hand" of the attorney. Most paralegals and legal assistants work with a specific attorney and have a broad base of knowledge in particular fields. We have 16 employees that fall into this category and they range from right out of college, to 35 years of experience.
Legal Secretary
Several of our legal assistants started with the firm as legal secretaries. This position is the building block of our firm and is the best way to learn the processes by which we run our business. A few of the many duties of a legal secretary include transcription, scanning, and organizing and maintaining both paper and electronic client files.
Summer Associate
We take pride in our summer associate program. Every summer since the 1960's, we have employed law school students to be mentored and gain experience as they go into their last year of law school. Before we employ a summer associate, we decide if that candidate is someone we could see working at our firm for years to come. Right now, about 75% of our attorneys were summer associates before they came back to the firm to be hired as attorneys. Summer Intern
For the last few summers, we have employed a college student who has the aspirations of going to law school. We feel that it is vital, especially with offices in smaller communities, to provide a job for students that want to experience working in a law firm. The summer interns do all kinds of things including shadowing attorneys in trial and depositions, working with the legal staff, and being assigned legal research projects. Employment at Pemberton Law
There are several benefits to working at Pemberton. Spend a day in any of our offices and you will see employees of all ages and experience levels working in almost all types of law. In todays world it is common for people to go from job to job. We are so proud of the longevity of several of our employees. Currently, we have 9 attorneys and staff with 30 or more years of employment. In addition to that, we have 8 more attorneys and staff that have been employed between 20 and 30 years. We also have a great mix of both attorneys and staff that are fresh out of college and are relatively new to their careers. |
