The Pemberton Law Firm welcomes Charlie to the Detroit Lakes office. Prior to joining Pemberton, Charlie was employed as an attorney in the Corporate Legal Department for Federated Mutual Insurance Company, a Fortune 1000 Company headquartered in Owatonna , Minnesota .  While at Federated, Charlie's practice focused primarily on transactional matters, as well as corporate governance, employment law and commercial litigation.

At Pemberton, Charlie is a general practitioner attorney, whose practice focuses in handling matters in the areas of civil litigation, family law, business law, estate planning, agricultural law, business succession planning, and employment law. He is also admitted to practice in Minnesota State Court and U.S. District Court for the State of Minnesota .

Charlie is an Iowa native, growing up on a family farm near Danbury , Iowa . He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance, and received his Juris Doctorate from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul .   While at law school, Charlie was chosen to represent Hamline at the Jessup International Moot Court Competition (where he was awarded the Best Oral Advocacy Award for being selected as one of the top two advocates at the competition) and at  the National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition.  Charlie was also nominated out of his class to participate in the Honor Round of Oral Arguments, and was selected as a Legal Research and Writing tutor for first-year law students.  Following law school, Charlie worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Donald E. Rysavy and the Honorable Fred W. Wellmann, of Minnesota 's Third Judicial District.

During his free time, Charlie enjoys being active in the community and spending time with friends and family.  In addition, he enjoys reading, curling, fishing, hunting, and rooting for his favorite sports teams, including the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.  He and his wife, Sarah, will be residing in Detroit Lakes and are excited about the prospects of being closer to family, and being active members of the Detroit Lakes community.  They are members of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church where they were married.  Charlie is also a member of Knights of Columbus, the Detroit Lakes Young Professionals Association, and the St. Mary's Innovis Health Business Relations Committee.
