Susan was born in Indiana, lived in Abilene, Texas until she was 10, and then moved to Larimore, North Dakota, where she graduated from high school. She attended college in Wahpeton, North Dakota, at the North Dakota State School of Science, which is now known as the North Dakota State College of Science. She chose NDSSS because it was the only college in the area at the time to offer a legal secretarial program. She graduated with an Associate of Science Degree in legal secretarial and in computer operations in May, 1983, and was hired in June, 1983, by what was then known as the law firm of Rufer, Hefte, Pemberton, Schulze, Sorlie, Sefkow & Kershner. She has worked for the firm for 30 years. She became Mike Rengel’s assistant when he was named a partner in the law firm, and has worked for Mike ever since.
Susie really enjoys working for Mike and believes they work well together. Her daughter, Amber, is a freshman at Concordia College in Moorhead.
Sue has been with the firm since 1981. Sue currently is aligned with Attorney Nick Heydt, working in the areas of estate planning, trusts, corporate law, real estate law, business and agricultural succession law areas.
Sue currently resides on a family farm just west of Fergus Falls with her husband, Allen. She enjoys the country life and outdoor activities with her family. Over the years Sue has, and continues to, volunteer for Church-related and community activities. Sue grew up on a dairy farm, graduating from Henning High School, Alexandria Area Technical Institute and later from Fergus Falls Community College.
Sue enjoys working at Pemberton because every day is different and fast-paced. Sue is proud to be part of Pemberton Law, which not only reaches out to meet the legal needs of the greater Minnesota population, but for the firm’s encouragement and support of local community participation in area events.
Karla grew up near Royalton, Minnesota, on a large crop farm, and graduated from Royalton High School. She moved to Alexandria, Minnesota, where she attended the Alexandria Technical and Community College and double-majored in the Legal Administrative Assistant and Paralegal programs. She completed her internship with the Pemberton Law Firm in 2012 and officially joined the firm in July, 2013. Karla is a Paralegal to Attorneys Charles M. Good and Marc W. Sugden.
Karla and her husband, Josh, currently reside just West of Alexandria with their sons, Jayce and Kade. The Brummond household also serves as a “home-away-from-home” for an Alexandria Blizzard Hockey player through the duration of each season. In her spare time, Karla enjoys spending time with family and friends; volunteering; strengthening her faith; date nights with her husband; playing volleyball; attending Blizzard Hockey games; and, most of all, watching their children grow and achieve new milestones.
Tracy Chaput is a native of Hallock, Minnesota, and worked for the law firm of Brink, Sobolik, Severson, Malm & Albrecht for 14 years prior to moving to Fergus Falls in 2001. Since that time, Tracy has been the legal assistant for Kent Mattson and assists him with corporate law, banking law, cooperative law, hospital law, and real estate. She also handles title insurance matters for Rob Bigwood.
Nancy has been a legal assistant at the Detroit Lakes location since 2010, and primarily works with Attorney Charlie Seuntjens in estate planning. Nancy grew up in the Wadena Deer Creek area and currently lives with her husband and two sons on a small hobby farm in rural Erhard. She attended St. Cloud Business College and initially started with the firm in 1996, in Fergus Falls.
Alisha joined Pemberton Law in July 2012, and works in Corporate Law, Employment Law and Real Estate. Prior to joining Pemberton Law, Alisha worked for five years as a licensed abstractor for a title and abstract company in Fergus Falls.
Beth Herrmann is a legal assistant in the Wadena office. She assists attorneys Daniel T. Carlisle and Sue Ann Lind in various areas of the law, including Real Estate, Family Law, Corporate and Probate. Beth joined the firm in 2003.
Beth grew up in Fulda, Minnesota. Following graduation from high school, she attended St. Cloud Business College where she graduated with certificates in secretarial, word processing and accounting. Her previous work experiences include working as a secretary for a computer company in Roseville, Minnesota, and working as an administrative assistant at a large law firm in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Beth and her husband, Mike, live in Perham, Minnesota, where Mike is an associate pastor at CrossPoint Alliance Church. They have four children, Tim (and Erika), Katie, Eric and Sara. Beth enjoys water sports, ping pong, golfing and watching her children participate in sporting and music events.
Kris is a 1995 graduate of Minnewaska Area High School. After high school she worked in the Mental Health field in group homes and schools. She graduated from Alexandria Technical & Community College with her Paralegal and Legal Administrative Assistant degrees.
She and her husband have been married for 17 years and they have four wonderful children, all of whom are in college. She enjoys motorcycle trips, warm days on the lake, and spending time with family.
Kris is a paralegal for Steve Rufer in our Fergus Falls office.
Mandy joined Pemberton Law in June 2007. She predominantly works in the areas of Estate Planning, Business Succession, Business/Corporate Law and Real Estate Law for attorney Nicholas Heydt. Mandy received her Associates in Applied Science Paralegal Degree from Alexandria Technical and Community College in April of 2007. She received her Bachelors of Business Management degree from Southwest Minnesota State University in May of 2010.
Mandy grew up in the small town of Villard, Minnesota, and currently resides in Glenwood. She enjoys playing and coaching volleyball, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Danielle grew up on her parent’s resort on Shell Lake, Minnesota. She graduated from Frazee-Vegas High School before attending the University of North Dakota for her freshman year of college. She transferred to Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal. While pursuing her degree, she worked for a local bankruptcy attorney. She graduated from MSUM in May of 2010 with an emphasis in Civil and Criminal Litigation. After graduation she worked for a collection and criminal defense law firms in downtown Fargo. In 2012 Danielle moved back to the lakes area and joined Pemberton Law Firm in May 2013. Danielle primarily works with attorney Charles Seuntjens in Estate Planning and Business/Corporate Law.
In her free time Danielle enjoys spending time with family and friends at her parent’s resort, road trips/traveling, a good book, new and classic movies and all things outdoors including camping, fishing, biking and gardening. Danielle volunteers her time with the Detroit Lakes Jaycees and the Lakes Area Crisis and Resource Center. She is excited to be living back in the lakes area.
Tarin has been with the firm since 2006 when the Hummel Law Firm merged with Pemberton Law. She is a legal assistant for Sam Rufer and works in the areas of Litigation and Probate.
Anna is a Fergus Falls native who recently relocated back to the area from Fargo, ND. She attended Globe University, Moorhead Campus and graduated in 2013 with her degree in Paralegal Studies. While residing in Fargo, ND Anna held positions at the Fargo Public Defender Office assisting 3 Indigent Defense Attorneys and was also a Deputy Clerk at the Cass County District Courthouse. Anna joined Pemberton Law Firm in 2015 and is the Paralegal to Katrina Wass working primarily in Family Law, Litigation and Estate Planning.
Away from work Anna’s world is centered on her 3 children, Ryder, Tucker and Aleeanna. She enjoys spending time together as a family whether it’s swimming at the lake, going to County fairs or just hanging out at Grandma and Papa’s place. Anna also enjoys spending her free time fishing, shooting targets and summer evening cruises.
Wanda grew up near Dent, Minnesota, and graduated from Perham-Dent High School and Fergus Falls Community College. She has worked in the legal field for over 32 years with the first 15 years mostly dedicated to the areas of Family Law and Litigation and the more recent years focusing on the areas of Estate Planning, Probate and Real Estate. Currently, she works with Attorneys Daniel T. Carlisle and Sue Ann Lind in Wadena.
She has always enjoyed working in the legal field with the most enjoyable part being the contact with the clients and all of the interesting stories they present.
Wanda and her husband, Kevin, have four children, Evan, Mason, Sutton & Lila, and have lived in the Wadena Community for approximately 26 years. Being the parents of four children, her time outside the office is spent attending wrestling, basketball, baseball, track, softball, volleyball, dance, and piano recitals, along with being involved in her church. She hopes to someday find time to do volunteer work at the local hospitals and nursing homes as well as read a good book.
Dorothy McCormick is a legal assistant. She works for all of the attorneys in the area of Probate Law including decedent estates, guardianship and conservatorship matters. She has been employed with Pemberton Law since 1975.
Monica joined Pemberton Law Firm in June of 2008. She worked as a legal secretary for attorney's Daniel T. Carlisle and Sue Ann Lind for 8 years before making the transition to the firm's Director of Marketing. You can find her working primarily in our Ottertail office.
Monica and her husband, Jason, reside in Wadena with their two children, Taylor and Weston. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors with her family and taking in everything the local lakes have to offer.
Karel has worked for Pemberton Law since 1992. She had several years of experience working in a law firm in Illinois prior to moving to Minnesota. She primarily works with attorney Robert W. Bigwood in Corporate Law, Real Estate and Estate Planning.
Alisha moved to Fergus Falls in October, 1999. Born and raised in Southern California, she loves MN and would never dream of leaving! Alisha attended MSUM and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 2011 and attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Fergus Falls, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting in 2007. Prior to her employment with Pemberton, Alisha worked as an Administrative Assistant and Accounting Assistant.
Alisha is a Legal Assistant for Chad Felstul and primarily works on Worker’s Compensation cases.
In her spare time Alisha enjoys spending time with her two sons. They love to be outdoors, fishing, boating, biking, camping or simply relaxing by the lake. Spending time with family and creating memories is a favorite past time.
Joanne Peterson works in Employment and Labor Law with attorney Kristi Hastings.
Sandy Schatschneider is legal assistant to Richard Pemberton and Morrie Kershner. She works in the area of Litigation and has been with the firm for 40 years.
Val moved from Evansville to Fergus Falls to attend the Community College here in the fall after graduation. The next spring after receiving her general secretarial certificate, she applied to Pemberton and was hired, 36 years ago. Val works in the area of litigation with Attorneys Morrie Kershner, Katrina Wass, and Josh Heggem. The Pemberton Firm is her second home as she has great friends here and enjoys her work. Her and her husband, Pat, have three children and four grandchildren who keep them busy. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, watching and feeding the wildlife, driving and walking in the countryside, and pontooning on Lake Lida in the summer.
Angie grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota, and graduated from Jefferson Senior High School. She attended Alexandria Technical and Community College and double majored in the Legal Administrative Assistant and Paralegal programs. She joined Pemberton Law Firm in 2014, as a paralegal for attorney Paul R. Johnson, working in the areas of Corporate Law, Utility Law, Township Law and Real Estate.
Angie and her husband Josh currently live in Sauk Centre with their six children, Kailyn, Jaidah, Madelyn, Daeson, and twin girls, Brylee and Brynlee. Angie enjoys spending any free moment she has with her family, spending a lot of that at sporting events supporting her children. She also enjoys hunting, fishing, and crocheting. Her family spends most of their free time in the summer at their lake property in Alexandria
Prior to working at Pemberton Law, Maranda was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom doing daycare while her sons were small in the little town of Milbank, South Dakota. She attended college in Bismarck, North Dakota for office management and worked for Montage, Inc. as their lead generation data base management fulfillment coordinator for four years prior to moving to Fergus Falls in 2002.
Maranda has been with Pemberton Law since 2004 and is Chad Felstul’s legal assistant.
Sarah was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She attended Bemidji State University to complete her general studies coursework, and then transferred to Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal. She graduated from MSUM in August of 2013 with an emphasis in Corporate Law and Litigation and began working for Pemberton in October of 2013. Sarah works with attorney Josh Heggem in the areas of Municipal, Employment and Labor Law.
In her free time she enjoys traveling to her parents’ cabin on Woman Lake in Hackensack, MN, fishing every lake she can, and spending time with her extended family and friends. Sarah is also looking forward to marrying her fishing partner for life, Sam, and establishing roots in the wonderful community of Fergus Falls.
Candi received an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Alexandria’s Technical College Legal Administrative Assistant Program. Prior to joining Pemberton Law in 2013, Candi worked for Tillitt, McCarten, Johnson & Haseman Ltd for nine years with Julie Haseman in the areas of estate planning and probate. Candi and her family enjoy outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing and four-wheeling, as well as spending time with family and friends.
